Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was promoted to the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. Mitchell travelled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss matters including and the Iran Contra controversy.
